# Install Slack

> Connect a Slack workspace to a Cobi organization

Install Slack from Cobi so people in your workspace can ask the Data Assistant questions without leaving Slack.

## Prerequisites

* You are a Cobi admin.
* You have permission to install apps in Slack.
* Your Cobi organization has at least one connected data source.

<Note>
  A Slack workspace can be connected to one Cobi organization at a time. This keeps Slack questions routed to the correct data sources and permissions.
</Note>

## Connect Slack

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Cobi settings">
    In Cobi, go to **Settings**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open integrations">
    Select the **Integrations** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Slack">
    Find the Slack card and click **Connect**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Authorize in Slack">
    Review the Slack authorization screen and approve the install.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the workspace">
    After Slack redirects back to Cobi, the Slack card shows the connected workspace.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite Cobi to channels">
    In Slack, invite Cobi to every channel where people should ask questions.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Reconnect Slack

Use **Reconnect** from the Slack card if the app was reinstalled in Slack or needs refreshed access. Reconnecting keeps the workspace mapped to the same Cobi organization.

## Disconnect Slack

Use **Disconnect** from the Slack card to remove the workspace connection from Cobi. After disconnecting, Cobi stops answering questions from that Slack workspace until an admin connects it again.

<Warning>
  If a workspace is already connected to a different Cobi organization, it cannot be claimed by another organization. Disconnect it from the first organization before connecting it somewhere else.
</Warning>

## What users do next

After installation, users can:

* Mention Cobi in invited channels.
* DM Cobi.
* Run `/cobi help` to see commands.
* Run `/cobi link` to connect their Slack user to their Cobi account.
